In June of 2005, Antique & Vintage Woods celebrated the opening of their new Design Center in Pine Plains. This showroom is a must see for builders, homeowner, architects and designers.

The finest quality of custom wood flooring and beams in both the antique and vintage species were used in these designer rooms. There are five different vignettes: a living room; a dining room; a den, a child’s play room, and a bathroom.

As you walk into the hall and living room area, you will see Wide Plank Pine in 18 inch widths.

One section of this pine floor has circular saw marks as seen in floors over 200 years old.

The rest of the pine section is hand-planed, offering a very different and more serene look.

Vintage Walnut covers the bathroom floor with beaded Pine wainscoting.

As you move to the den you will see rustic grade Tobacco Barn Oak on the floor with character grade Tobacco Barn Oak wainscoting on the wall.

The kitchen has the treasured Antique Chestnut floor with Antique Mushroom Wood wainscoting and an island countertop, made from a section of a refinished bowling alley.

Because of its durability, Antique Heart Pine was installed in the children’s playroom with Vintage Heart Pine wainscoting with a pickled finish.

And lastly, in the dining room, a Vintage Oak flooring is featured with wide Eastern White Pine wainscoting which again has a pickled finish.

As you proceed beyond the Antique Mushroom Wood barn doors, you will see a Vintage Cherry floor with a spectacular medallion made of mixed species of rare woods and borders of Antique Oak along with various other mixed species.

The design in the medallion was copied from a large stained glass window which stands at the end of the room. One of our artisans can make individual medallions designed to your specifications, which will never be duplicated for another client.

Each vignette is framed with hand sanded and planed beams.

The front window display area illustrates how Mushroom Wood beam wraps can camouflage unsightly construction pipes.
